Against many odds South African intern manger, Keagan emerged as the winner of the seventh season of the Big Brother Africa show. In a nerve-wracking grand finale in his home country yesterday, Keagan overcome six other finalists in claiming the $300,000 ‘Stargame’ winner-takes-it-all prize. After 91-days of been holed up in the Big Brother house - from May 6, 2012 to August 5, 2012 - Keagan has walked away a fulfilled man. With huge support from his countrymen, fans and parents, Keagan was unruffled as he was announced the Show’s winner by Big Brother Africa host, Nigeria’s IK Osakioduwa. The 22-year old garnered a 7-country vote, 5-country votes more than his closest rivals, Prezzo (Kenya), Lady May (Namibia) and Talia (Zambia). Ugandan journalist, Kyle and Malawian student Wati got only their county’s votes. In winning the N45m prize money, Keagan became the first South African winner of Big Brother Africa in the entire seven editions. He also broke the Nigerian stranglehold on the show for the past three editions. The fair-skinned South African with heavy Indian accent became head of house six times. He described himself as crazy and stupid. Many fans did not agree to his game plan when he instigated his original Downville housemates to nominate Upville housemates for eviction for four consecutive weeks. His supporters had a tumultuous last week on the show when rumours of his alleged sexual involvement with Zambia’s Talia went rife on social networks. Nevertheless the voting audiences across Africa duly rewarded him for his gamesmanship and ‘craziness’. Keagan got the crucial West African block votes - Ghana, Liberia and Nigeria – in addition to Rest of Africa, Angola, Botswana and of course, home country, South Africa. Kenya and Tanzania opted for Prezzo while Lady May got Namibia and Zimbabwe’s nods. Talia had Sierra Leone’s and Zambia’s country-votes to finish fourth. Nigerian star-acts Naeto C and Koko-master D’Banj performed in the grand finale. Denrele Edun was also one of the anchors of the finale. Nigeria’s Goldie Harvey who missed out on a place in the grand finale was in attendance. Karen Igho (the BBA 6 winner) and Ola (Big Brother Stargame participant) and DJ Exclusive completed the Nigerian presence on the night. Runner-up Prezzo had a consolation prize when he was chosen as a one-campaign ambassador and has a date in New York to watch JayZ perform.
